What we do


Ardeen Cheshire Home provides residential and respite accommodation to adults with physical sensory and neurological disabilities. We provide individualised supports for people to meet their physical, psychological and social care needs in an enviornment that encourages independence and promotes well being.

The residential service is based on clear priniciples of supporting people one person at a time. As a member of the team you will be committed to rights based, person centred service delivery, be willing to embrace change and help foster a culture of continuous improvement.You will be required to establish and maintain relationships with individuals with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence. It is critical that when undertaking your work that you do so in a manner that is consistent with Cheshire Irelands values, operating ethos and standards.

 

What you will do

You will support the Activities Coordinator to plan and lead in-house activities in the service and support residents in the community. Operating out of a social model of disability you will be involved in ensuring that residents have opportunities to participate in meaningful activities, appropriate to their wishes and preferences and that reflect their needs, interests and capacities. You will also support residents to develop and maintain personal relationships and links with the wider community and their families.

Administrative responsibilities include ongoing development and review of individual social plans, and maintaining documentation in relation to this.

 

This is a care support role and as a result you may be required to support residents in other aspects of their daily lives, as per their individual needs and in accordance with their evolving plans. Training will be provided as necessary but this could include support with meals, and personal care ensuring that the dignity of residents is maintained and in order for them to live a good life.


SKILLS and EXPERIENCE


What we are looking for


        Hold a minimum FETAC Level Qualification in Health Care Support

        A commitment to the social model of disability and demonstrated ability in supporting residents to achieve goals

        A positive and empathetic nature, with a desire to seek out new and interesting opportunities for others

        A team player but can use initiative and work independently

        An ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, in a busy environment

        Knowledge of or experience in a HIQA regulated environment

        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

        Computer literate, and competence with devices and technologies

        In possession of the necessary documentation to work and live in the Republic of Ireland.

        A clean driving license as you will be required to drive Cheshire vehicles.

        Flexibility in working times to include evening and weekend work as required.

        Ability to speak and write English fluently.

        Personal Integrity and trustworthiness.

  • Assisting clients in carrying out self-care tasks including personal washing; showering; bathing and bed bathing; dressing and undressing; toileting; feeding; assistance with personal appearance such as hair brushing; continence management, catheter care; stoma care; and getting in and out of bed.
  • Assisting in practical support such as house cleaning; cooking; dish washing; laundry and other duties as instructed and written in the task schedule
  • Ensuring clients are provided with refreshments and light snacks as appropriate
  • Prompt clients to take medication
  • To help promote as much personal, physical independence and choice as possible whilst upholding client’s rights and preserving their dignity
  • To develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients and work colleagues from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • To complete documentation, including Daily Report Sheets
  • To comply with all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend annual mandatory training and other training courses and updates as deemed necessary, which includes team meetings and one to one supervision
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence
  • To work at all time to the Policies and Procedures of Homecare Independent Living
  • Must hold a Full Drivers Licence and have access to a car

Care Support Workers

Cheshire Ireland provides quality services to adults with physical,sensory and neurological disabilities at a medium and high level of need. We provide individualised supports to promote wellbeing, independence and quality of life for all people who use our services. We currently provide services to over 200 people in their own homes, in residential centres, in supported accommodation and in respite facilities. Established in Shillelagh, Co.Wicklow in 1963, Cheshire Ireland are a Section 39 organisation funded by the HSE. We employ over 800 staff and operate in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Wicklow, Limerick, Donegal, Kerry, Carlow, Waterford, Sligo and Mayo.

 

The people we are looking to recruit will be contracted to work a 24 hrs Servcie -12 hr shifts in Cheshire Community Living Services based in the clients own home in Blanchardstown Dublin 15.

 

THE ROLE

What you will do.


The successful candidates will have the ability to operate independently with good use of initiative, and also to work effectively in a small team of staff. You and your team will provide personal care in line with client health needs, exercise programmes, and household management. You and your team will support clients safety, security, emotional, and spiritual well-being whilst also supporting people, if necessary, to identify their individual goals and achieve future aspirations.
