Golder has a new opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team on a permanent basis based in Naas, Ireland.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientists and modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering
  • Provide specialised technical input focused on landfill facilities, tailings management facilities, heap leach facilities, open pits, quarries, water impoundments and waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, geosynthetic materials engineering and related civil engineering work for projects worldwide
  • Assist project managers in the successful delivery of projects by managing own involvement in projects, including time, budget and quality control
  • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
  • Travel to landfill sites, mine sites and greenfield developments to assist clients in solving engineering problems and support construction of Golder designs. Travel outside of Ireland will require overnight stays, and likely duration will depend on the nature of the project/client needs
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with new and existing clients and be able to effectively represent Golder Associates on site
  • Liaise with the Mining Team networks, which include specialists within Golder both nationally and internationally. To include participation in Europe's Mining Team meetings and calls as and when required
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to other team members of graduate level
  • Assist others in carrying out business development activities including preparation of technical proposals
  • Act in the spirit of Golder's values and do not misinterpret their meaning. Adhere to the Golder Code of Conduct at all times and raise concerns as appropriate. Regularly familiarise self with the Code of Conduct and how it is applicable to own role/position within the organisation
  • Display a 'safety first' attitude in line with an interdependent health and safety culture, promote positive health and safety, raise safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhere to Golder health and safety policy and procedures; and
  • Ensure actions and behaviours are aligned to Golder's Equality Policy at all times.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on and proven ability in soil mechanics
  • Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations
  • Mining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilities
  • The ability to interpret and monitor results and use a variety of tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirements
  • Demonstrable theoretical and practical experience of project management and consultancy, including supporting client relationships, projects, and project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)
  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage client and other professional relationships
  • Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Willingness and ability to travel in Ireland and internationally, and on occasion to remote environments with limited communication or logistical support.

DESIGN ENGINEER (DSP Architecture):


Based in our Engineering Centre in Dublin, Ireland, we are recruiting an outstanding engineer with a passion for heterogeneous multicore architectures and digital signal processing (DSP) applications to lead the definition, specification and development of Xilinx next-generation architectures.



You will join a team whose architecture and systems activities cover a wide range of disciplines including ML for data center (HPC) and embedded computing (e.g., automotive ADAS) applications; emerging memory technologies; on-chip interconnects; specification, modelling and analysis of modern heterogeneous multicore architectures.



Responsibilities:

  • Work with Xilinx product teams to develop multi-core architectures and provide compilers for the efficient programming of the new architecture
  • Apply strong software engineering skills to create frameworks and methods for the functional/performance validation of the new architecture for the key DSP applications
  • Provide results/reports that drive the development of the new architecture
  • Technically interact with Xilinx-internal engineering teams and Xilinx customers to enable the efficient programming of the new architecture on micro level and system level

Requirements:

  • MS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Strong background in modern microarchitectures
  • Strong C/C++ programming experience and scripting skills
  • High level understanding of digital signal processing algorithms
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written

Beneficial would be domain background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Good understanding of on-chip interconnect architectures and memory hierarchy in heterogeneous architectures

Your mission: 
Working within the Schneider Electric Field Services Team, you will execute service activity on MV & LV equipment, according to work instructions and in accordance with Schneider Electric standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. Typical tasks include MV & LV equipment installation and commissioning, routine maintenance, extensions, replacements, identifying technical problems and making analysis through remote or on-site activity.
You will deliver quality customer service in close co-operation with other Schneider Electric teams, taking actions to identify new Service business opportunities for Schneider Electric Ireland.
 
Your responsibilities: 
  • Regular attendance at customer sites for installation, testing & commissioning and maintenance on systems ranging from 400V LV Switchgear to 38kV MV Switchgear & Power Transformers.
  • Performing the following activities on Schneider Electric power distribution equipment at customer sites; 
    • Supervision of equipment offloading
    • Commissioning activity on MV & LV Systems
    • Systems testing and fault diagnosis
    • Modifications / refurbishment of installed base equipment
    • Maintenance of installed base equipment
  • Troubleshoots simple equipment failure and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
  • Strive to develop and maintain technical best practice. Document test results and produce site work reports
  • Perform site risk assessments and assist in producing method statements.
  • Participate in necessary schemes to provide cover outside of normal working hours.
  • Promote the Company’s service activities, identify and pursue business opportunities.
  • Contribute to customer training activities.

About you: 
  • Qualified to degree level in relevant discipline (Electrician or Electrical Engineer) or equivalent experience
  • Be able to demonstrate related work experience and a strong track record in similar role with experience in installing, commissioning and maintaining LV / MV switchgear / Transformers
  • Solid working knowledge of LV & MV distribution systems
  • A basic understanding of power and control systems
  • The ability to follow through on commitments to completion while working independently
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite, standard operating systems and associated peripherals
  • Must hold a valid driving license
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is a must
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees and customers in a professional manner, both in person and via telephone and with a strong focus on managing customer relationships
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety and environmental requirements
  • Be willing to learn on the job with ability to apply engineering knowledge within related discipline
