Job Description

We are recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer to work with the design and manufacturing groups to develop robust, sustainable products that meet customer expectations and are cost effective to manufacture. The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for providing software design, implementation, and testing of embedded software for medical devices to safely deliver fluids and medications to patients.

As an Embedded Software Engineer you will:

  • Provide technical documentation for the design, implementation and testing of the software.

  • Attend design review meetings as needed to adhere to the software development procedures

  • Document and repair errors related to fielded software issues

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team including Clinical, Electrical, Mechanical, Software test and Quality

  • Assist the engineering staff in clarifying requests for software changes and understand reported problems

  • Perform software design based on input from clinical users, characteristics of the existing software base, consultation with other engineering staff, and system functional requirements

  • Perform software implementation, following coding guidelines and taking into account system characteristics to produce optimal performance, reliability, and maintainability

  • Conduct software evaluation and testing of own software, software from other engineering staff, and third-party software

Educational

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, with a minimum of level 8 in Computer Science, engineering or related discipline.

Skills

  • Strong C/C++

  • You will have the ability to analyse software written in Assembly language.

  • Experience if embedded application with memory and timing constraints.

  • Good experience with controlling hardware, RS232, RS485, SPI or I2C

It is an advantage if you are familiar with

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) design and implementation

  • knowledge of software life cycle processes including IEC 62304.

Job description:

 You will be working as part of a global IT team. As a Systems Engineer you'll be responsible for the planning and execution of projects that will support business growth, improve security, or open up new capabilities. You will be working with the IT Security and Engineering teams to maintain and execute a roadmap for upcoming quarters and you will assist with the build out of a technology platform that’s flexible, scalable, secure, and predictive. You will assist in planning and completing migrations of on-premise resources to their SAAS/PAAS/IAAS equivalents and you will rollout best practices for automation of server deployment and management. You will be involved in supervising the IT Helpdesk function, sitting in the escalation path for any critical incidents.

 

Candidate profile:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  • Strong team working skills;
  • 3 - 7+ years of relevant IT server/network administration role;
  • Strong skills in Active Directory, experience managing hundreds of users and multiple sites;
  • Good understanding of Windows features such as DNS, DC, DHCP, gMSAs, and Group Policy;
  • Good understanding on networking concepts (Subnets, VLANs, routing…);
  • Track record of having delivered IT infrastructure or IT software projects;
  • Experience in triaging incidents, spotting patterns, and establishing projects to eliminate ongoing issues;

 

Desirable (but not essential skills) include:

  • Knowledge of the Azure stack and Hyper-V;
  • Prior experience deploying and managing Intune and Autopilot;
  • Strong automation skills (PowerShell);
  • Prior experience managing network devices (e.g. Cisco switches, routers, firewalls etc);

Reporting into the CTO, you will be responsible for leading a small and growing sw dev team. Working in an Agile environment, all new development will be in Python and there will be a program to migrate Java components to more lightweight Python implementations.   You will work closely with key customers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, negotiate well-defined deliverables, and get them delivered. You will be developing software on multiple platforms including J2EE and Python. The role breakdown is around 60% technical/engineering design and development, and around 40% team leading.

 

 

Candidate profile:

You are educated to degree level and you have excellent communication and team leading skills. You are an experienced software developer with around 5+ years experience in Java or Python. You have proven experience in working with multiple stakeholders to achieve business goals. You have strong experience in the design and development of software through all stages of the SDLC. Ideally your knowledge of J2EE development includes Spring and your knowledge of Python-based technology includes flask or Django. You also have a strong knowledge of relational database technology.

 

Experience of or interest in any of the following areas is desirable (but not required):
