Your Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide routine service and maintenance, emergency repairs and general technical support for customers throughout Ireland, particularly the Leinster and Munster regions.
Joining the Service Team, you’ll work with broad range of laboratory equipment including autoclaves, centrifuges, fridges, freezers, incubators and biological safety cabinets. You’ll carry out calibration, servicing and maintenance activities, complete service reports and calibration certificates and maintain all associated documentation.
Specifically, you will:
- Deliver high-quality service and support to customer sites
- Complete service and calibration documentation in compliance with GDP (Good Documentation Practice)
- Provide creative, innovative solutions to customer technical issues based on sound knowledge of the product portfolio and strong, up-to-date competency
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies with diligence and ensure that H&S requirements of customer sites are adhered to (and any PPE is worn and in good condition)
- Work in a safe, compliant and efficient manner at all times and ensure a timely turnaround on all activities to maximise customer satisfaction
About You
To be considered as a Field Service Engineer, you will need:
- Ideally, a minimum NFQ Level 5-6 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Electronic Servicing, Mechatronics or a related discipline
OR
- A craft certificate in Electrical, Mechanical or Automated Process Control with field service experience
- A full, clean driving licence
Previous experience in a laboratory environment would be beneficial, as would experience of servicing and repairing white goods/domestic appliances, HVAC and/or refrigeration products.
Key Competencies:
- Strong electro/mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of electric and electronic principles and the ability to use these in practice
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills: a methodical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving techniques, with a “first fix” attitude
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to act as an ambassador of the company in the most professional way
- Self-motivated with a team player mentality
- Good knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
- The ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision

What is the Role?
As a C & I Engineer you will be focused on Operational SCADA and Control System platform management and support. This will include hardware, software, integration and commissioning support on all operational and reporting systems installed across the Onshore Fleet of Wind Farms. The position will deal with data intensive environments where reliability and accuracy are critical. You will engineer improvements and guarantee uptime of the systems sourcing and capturing data. The team operates in close quarters with various departments and divisions within the wider SSE portfolio, where you would be expected provide support when required on short notice.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you'll need a minimum HNC qualification in either Engineering or Information Technology, accompanied by proven hands-on experience of MS Server Operating Software, VMs, HP Hardware and components.
Due to the specialist nature of this position, the following would also be of benefit;
- Extensive technical capabilities including knowledge of network topologies, data flow management and MS SQL Database experience within large corporate IT systems
- Knowledge of Industry Cyber Security requirements, the associated regulatory bodies involved and the necessary methods of implementation along with documented compliance procedures
- Experience of data logging, data analysis, data manipulation and troubleshooting utilising numerous software including OsiSoft Pi, Anemoi, Matlab and Azure hosting
- Experience of Fibre Optics networks, their design, operation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques
- Understanding of site wide and network communication systems including but not limited to Networking, DMR, GSM, Microwave and Satellite systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential, as will the ability to negotiate and influence across varying levels of stakeholders and manage conflict in high pressure situations. You'll also have the ability to work closely and effectively with the wider operational teams, to ensure maintenance requirements and timescales are met.
You'll need excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of the implications of engineering activities and decisions. It is also an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence.

The Band 1 – Desktop Technician will provide day to day local\remote desktop support, receive inbound calls, answer questions, troubleshoot and document steps performed to resolve challenges with hardware, software and application issues in a ticketing system. The candidate will also need to facilitate customer resolution for calls and engage their supervisors and managers to ensure operational consistency across all shifts within the IT Support Centre. Desktop Support Engineer provides Break Fix, fault diagnosis and resolution. Providing fault analysis to customer’s various core operating systems and platforms, as well be able to provide support and apply desktop fault resolution for the approved application suite. Ideal candidate should have 2-3 years’ experience in Windows Desktop support.
a) Provide first/second level contact and problem resolution for customer issues.
b) Work with Third Party Vendors to remediate complex AV issues as needed.
