CAD Technician II

Due to continued expansion of our operations, we are seeking applications from a suitably qualified and experienced Manufacturing CAD Technician II - Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Engineering in developing, trouble shooting, standardising and improving existing production equipment, fixtures and hardware designs.
  • Creates and modifies detailed CAD models (2D & 3D) from sketches, models, layouts or notes.
  • Checks drawings versus the project inputs for correctness and conformance to standards.
  • Works with Designers/Engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and print package documentation.
  • Creates 2d working drawings of product components
  • Liaises with third party tooling manufacturers on drawing queries, tolerance stack-ups and updating approved drawings
  • Creates prototypes on Solid Works to develop concepts and design improvements

 Qualifications:

  • Requires minimum HETAC level 6 in Technical, Science or Engineering discipline or Senior Trades Qualification
  • A strong knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) essential
  • 3+ years’ experience in a modern design environment with previous experience in some of the following: Solid works SME, 3D printing
  • Proven experience in tooling design including computer aided tooling / fixture design, build and implementation
  • Knowledge in the area of moulding design
  • Ability to work on own with minimum supervision
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

NFQ level 6 or Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering.

Excellent AutoCAD knowledge is essential

Experience with civils 3D is desirable 

Production of drawings of roads, pavement designs, surface water and SuDS

Minimum 4 years post graduate experience in a design office assisting in preparation of drawings

Solid understanding of construction methodology and materials

Site experience is also desirable

Excellent communication skills

Project Description:

Nicholas O'Dwyer are expanding and seeking ambitious Revit Technician / Engineer, to work within our Structural Department at our head office in Dublin. We have a broad spectrum of projects both in Ireland and Internationally and can offer the successful candidate a clear path for career development in one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate would be working as part of a team in the areas of:

  • Surveys and collection of project data
  • Design within high level of competence
  • Preparation of drawings of site development works, structural steel detailing, reinforced concrete, structural layouts, sections, etc.
  • Design, data collection and duties delegated by the SPE on a progressive basis

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5years’ experience, but less experience would also be considered for exceptional candidates
  • Ability to work as part of a team and achieve tight deadlines and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge /experience of construction techniques and building regulations
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience in GA drawings and RC Detailing.
  • Ideally will have experience on structural elements on Projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working on Frameworks with Utility Companies would be desirable
  • Certificate or Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering
