We are welcoming applications from Quantity Surveyors with experience ranging from 2 to 8 years, from junior through to intermediate level. These roles have become available due to a strong pipeline of upcoming mechanical projects in the Cork/Munster region. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals who want to play a key role in delivering complex mechanical engineering projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the estimation team to review mechanical cost estimates and support accurate quantity take-offs and BOQs.
- Monitor and control project costs, including variations, change orders, and payments, while identifying and reporting commercial risks.
- Conduct value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities across mechanical scopes.
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications for changes, and carry out site visits to verify progress and resolve discrepancies.
- Evaluate subcontractor claims, assist with payment applications, and support preparation of final accounts.
- Manage contracts, ensuring compliance with key terms, and manage change orders, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Track labour resources and productivity for mechanical works, analysing trends and recommending improvements.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports, forecasts, and documentation for stakeholders, maintaining accurate records throughout.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- A relevant 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or a QS with mechanical engineering qualifications/experience.
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience within the construction sector, with a strong focus on mechanical services.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills, with a results-driven approach.
- Previous experience working with a Mechanical Contractor is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), with the ability to produce detailed cost reports and financial projections.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to professional development.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic project environment.
