My client, one of Ireland leading Steel Manufacturers, is in need of a Purchasing Specialist to join their procurement team based in Co. Longford

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist with industrial experience to utilise their experience and grow on their career with a leading Irish Manufacturer

The responsibilities for the Purchasing Specialist include but are not limited to:
  • Negotiate agreements and prices with suppliers.
  • Focus on the major spends in the company
  • Demonstrate cost savings on major spends
  • build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers;
  • Manage company internal purchasing system in line with company policy, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
  • Provide all requested purchasing and supplier related reports including quarterly spend report, monthly KPI reports and other report information requested by senior management
  • forecast price trends and their impact on future activities;
  • train and supervise the work of other members of purchasing department
  • Carry out regular supplier assessment of existing suppliers.

The requirements for the Purchasing Specialist include but are not limited to:
  • 3rd level qualification in Procurement/Supply Chain Management
  • IT Skills, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SAP.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Experience in Construction and industrial environments desired
  • Self-disciplined with the ability to work solely and as part of team.
  • Excellent attention to detail, the ability to multitask and prioritise.
  • The ability to liaise confidently with colleagues at all levels.
  • React positively and flexibly to the changing needs in the overall working environment and individual role.
  • The ability to make quick decisions
