The Principal Engineer will be responsible for the research and development of IT and Security on premise and cloud-based solution business cases as well as the evaluation, implementation and operationalization of high availability on-premise and cloud technology solutions. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture and Engineering, the Principal Engineer will collaborate with technical leadership, various product/technology teams, and business stakeholders to develop on-premise and cloud solutions to meet operational goals for high availability, performance, stability, security and cost efficiency.
Provide technical leadership to design, implement, test, deploy, maintain and improve networking solutions for next-generation infrastructure programmability and automation capabilities.
Architects, designs, implements, maintains and operates information system security controls and countermeasures; supervises and trains operators in the administration of these systems; documents the operation, use, and expected outputs of these systems.
Drive cross-stakeholder requirements gathering and technical discussions, as well as design reviews and test plans development.
Responsible for the development and refinement Yapstone’s network and security architecture principles, vision and roadmap.
Define infrastructure standard frameworks, blueprints and artifacts in line with various compliance drivers like GDPR, PCI-DSS Level 1 Service Provider, SOC1 and SOC2, Type II using NIST Framework.
Subject matter expertise with Identity and Access Management, Network Security, Data Security, Mobile Security, End User Security.
Lead large and transformational infrastructure project implementations ensuring engineers develop technology solutions that are aligned with established technology roadmaps and standards.
Partner with engineers and other infrastructure groups in the execution of IT and Security technology product evaluations (on-premise/cloud based), proof of concepts, pilots and the technology adoption lifecycles.
Validate all new technical design/solutions meet monitoring, runbook, cost and other operational requirements.
Oversees the response to information system security incidents, including investigation of, countermeasures to, and recovery from computer-based attacks, unauthorized access, and policy breaches; engages, interacts and coordinates with third-party incident responders, including law enforcement.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. A Master of Science or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
Security qualifications, CEH, CISSP and/or CCSP certification preferred.
7+ years of relevant IT and Security technology and network engineering/architecture experience. 12+ years’ experience is preferred.
Solid understanding of full security defense in depth including network, application and operating system security networking (OSI 3-7).
Experience developing networking capabilities deployed in large-scale infrastructures. Experience examples include network engineering, NetDevOps, tooling/API development, significant open-source contributions, etc.
Passion for infrastructure automation through software.
Solid hands-on experience with network automation. Experience in programming languages (Go, Java, Python, etc.) or API development for network automation a plus.
In-depth understanding of modern, software-defined, cloud-native networking technologies.
Experience with open networking technologies, ecosystems, open-source community and industry forums such as the Linux Foundation.
In-depth understanding of open networking trends and innovations, including next-generation network hardware, software, platform architectures and disaggregated systems.
Solid technical understanding of hybrid, multi-cloud architectures (engineering/operations experience a bonus).
Excellent collaboration and people skills.
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills from engineering to executive.
