Mechanical Workshop Manager Job Profile
Controlled Environments Company (CEC) is a single source supplier and solutions provider to customers operating in critically clean and controlled environments. We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Workshop Manager, to work at our Leixlip location.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the mechanical workshop, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Determination of task completion in house or recommend alternative course of action.
- Plan, prioritize, and manage repairs simultaneously to address multiple complex technical problems.
- Manage the availability and readiness of tools and machinery to support work activities.
- Ensure all mechanical equipment and machinery are regularly maintained and in optimal working condition.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for workshop equipment.
- Enforce and be the role model for all safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of the workshop.
- Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring that all tasks meet company and industry /client standards.
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure it meets design specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Provide technical support to resolve issues related to machinery and mechanical components.
- Supervise and lead a team of mechanical technicians and other workshop personnel.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and training to improve skills and knowledge.
- Ensure team members are fully trained and assist in their development, providing access to necessary certifications and training programs.
- Stay updated on the latest mechanical technologies and techniques, ensuring the team is well-informed.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices and identify future trends.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with management regarding workshop activities and performance.
- Provide regular reports on workshop operations, including productivity, downtime, and equipment status.
- Monitor inventory levels and order replacement parts as needed, evaluate budgets quarterly.
- Driving cost effectiveness and efficiency, forecasting and managing spends to budget. Determining ROI of each work & activity.
- Manage the communication with external suppliers on the repairs and replacement of tooling components and equipment.
Skills and Experience:
- National Certificate / diploma/degree or equivalent with a minimum NFQ level 6 in mechanical/electrical/engineering discipline.
5+ years' experience in mechanical fabrication. Demonstrated Skills and proficiency on workshop equipment is mandatory. - Technically proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery such as Lathes, Milling Machines, CNC Routers.
- Knowledge of mechanical principles
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical equipment, tools, and systems.
