Job Opportunity: Engineering Stores & Obsolescence Specialist
Location: Fermoy, Co. Cork
Contract: 12-Month Contract (with potential for permanency)
Salary: €35,000 - €45,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Engineering Stores / MRO Specialist with a strong background in engineering storerooms and obsolescence management? Do you have a deep understanding of MRO parts, vendor engagement, and sourcing strategies? This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a highly regulated cGMP environment within the manufacturing sector.

About the Role


This position is not a standard stores technician role. It requires technical expertise in identifying engineering parts, understanding their function, and managing obsolescence risks to ensure continued operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update registers of obsolete and at-risk parts.
  • Engage with OEM and OCM suppliers to identify sourcing options and alternative solutions for obsolete parts.
  • Analyse specifications and identify critical aspects of spare parts.
  • Provide engineering teams with specification packs for alternative parts and assess required modifications.
  • Obtain quotations for remaining stock of obsolete parts for potential stockpiling.
  • Collaborate with site teams to ensure compliance with cGMP and regulatory standards.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience in an inventory or MRO-related position.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or engineering environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering parts and their applications.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships remotely and source parts effectively.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to react to change.
  • Systems experience with SAP, Ariba, or Maximo is a plus.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to handle engineering queries efficiently.
  • Access to own transport is essential, as public transport is not available for this location.
