Health and Safety Officer skills: The Health and Safety Officer role is ideal for an experienced, self-reliant professional with 4+ years of construction or civil engineering experience:

  • A third-level qualification in Health and Safety or a related field.
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) membership preferred.
  • Strong experience within the construction or civil engineering sector, ideally in large infrastructure or groundworks projects.
  • Ability to manage Health and Safety independently on-site in line with the company’s management system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with new technologies (Mobile Apps, etc.).
  • Able to lead and deliver Health and Safety meetings and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to and working closely with the Group Health and Safety Manager.
  • Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are managed in both documentation and practice on-site.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and investigate any accidents or dangerous occurrences within your designated area.
  • Perform Risk Assessments and complete Method Statements.
  • Contribute to and deliver Tool Box Talks and discussions.
  • Collaborate with Site Managers to ensure all Health and Safety documentation is up to date.
  • Conduct training for new and existing employees as needed.
The Package: An excellent package will be put in place for the successful candidate of approx €60,000 + vehicle / allowance, pension, healthcare, and the opportunity to secure long term work in the Galway area with one of the most successful Main Contractors in Ireland.
