What does a successful Data Product Manager do?


A Data Product Manager for ‘Merchant Insights & Reporting’ at Fiserv is responsible for leading the development and management of products that provide merchants with valuable insights and reporting tools. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define product roadmap, and ensure the delivery of solutions that meet the needs of merchants. The Product Manager is also tasked with analyzing market trends, identifying potential opportunities for product enhancements, and driving the overall success of the merchant insights and reporting offerings for the acquiring (Merchants) and issuing (retail customers) business.

The Product Manager plays a critical role in shaping innovative offerings, staying ahead of market trends, and ensuring alignment with evolving customer needs, positioning the company for success and growth in the dynamic data-driven landscape.


What you will do:


+ Gain a thorough understanding of the existing landscape by developing an ‘as is’ view of the business and communicating to key stakeholders. Proactively identify gaps in the current product offering and lead the effort to develop solutions that drive business and customer value. Present data and findings in a compelling way to influence leadership decisions.

+ Lead the development and management of products and solutions that provide merchants with valuable insights and reporting tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define product roadmap, and prioritize features.

+ Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends and opportunities for product enhancements. Define product strategy and roadmap based on market demands and customer needs.

+ Be responsible for a healthy backlog management on Jira, defining and prioritizing features based on based on value, business goals, and customer needs for delivery in a Scaled Agile environment.

+ Monitor progress during sprints, provide feedback, and facilitate any necessary adjustments to optimize product delivery. Work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of product features.

+ Analyse data and metrics to measure product performance and identify areas for improvement. Develop go-to-market strategies and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to drive product adoption.

+ Commercially focused, leading client facing discussions, providing feedback, industry, and market trends, learns from our customers, evaluates, and applies in defining product. Provide product training and support to internal teams and external clients.

+ Monitor industry developments and stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in merchant insights and reporting.Drive the overall success and growth of the merchant insights and reporting product offerings.


What you will need to have:


+ Be passionate about data, applied AI, and competitive offerings in the payments area in the field of analytics. Commercially focused data analytics domain expert with strong customer centric thinking with at least 7+ years of experience in a product management role in data analytics domain.

+ Deep technical understanding of data lake, data warehouse, data visualization and big data analytics

+ Proficient in working on SQL databases with working knowledge of data analysis, data modeling and database management.

+ Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts to leverage predictive analytics, recommendation systems, and other AI-driven capabilities in data products to generate valuable insights and personalized experiences for merchants and retail customers.

+ Hands on experience in implementing various analytical use cases prototypes using Python and other relevant tools and technologies.

+ Exposure to modern data products ecosystem such as data as a service, data sharing, embedded analytics, self-serve analytics etc.

+ Experience working in agile environments to drive iterative product development, prioritize features, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data products that meet customer needs and business objectives.

+ Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work cross-organizationally with both business and technical stakeholders, including clients in a collaborative way. A self-motivated and results focused individual with the ability to take ownership for issues through to resolution.Commercially astute, experienced in building business cases, P&L for the product, pricing and responding to RFI/RFP’s.


What would be great to have:


+ Master's degree in product management, digital marketing, data science, business intelligence or similar subjects is a plus.

+ Experience as a Product Manager or similar role in the fintech or payments industry.

+ Certification in Product Management (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is a plus
