Duties and Responsibilities of the Role:
Assist in food preparation tasks as directed by the senior chefs
Assist in cooking and plating dishes, following recipes and guidelines set by the kitchen leadership
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
Help with portioning and plating of dishes to ensure consistency and presentation standards are met
Assist in receiving and storing food supplies, rotating stock, and notifying senior chefs when supplies need replenishing
Ensure that workstations and kitchen equipment are kept clean and organised
Assist in setting up and operating kitchen equipment, such as ovens, stoves, mixers and following safety guidelines
Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, implementing best practices in food handling and sanitation
Actively learn from and follow the guidance of the kitchen leadership, seeking to improve culinary skills
Assist in the preparation and execution of special events and banquets, collaborating with the culinary team
Uphold the hotel's commitment to delivering an outstanding guest experience
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or a culinary qualification is desirable but not essential
- Passion for food, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
