Job Description – Caretaker
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our team. The company is in a
period of growth and the successful candidate must be adaptable and have the ability to work
in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, disciplined, motivated, and extremely organised,
be able prioritise their workload and work quickly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be based across our services which are based in various
locations throughout Dublin, Kildare & Meath.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours per week; 9am-5:30pm as standard but flexibility
required), temporary contract.
Location: Various
Salary:Negotiable – depending on experience – plus mileage paid.
Start date: ASAP
Main Job Purpose:
To support our Operations Manager and Service Managers through the delivery and coordination of hard & soft facilities management services. In addition, the candidate will promote
and co-ordinate health & safety within the organisation.
The successful candidate will undertake the general caretaker duties as outlined below in
consultation with the Facilities Coordinator who is responsible for scheduling the delivery of
ongoing maintenance work.
Overall Duties & Responsibilities:
• To take care of/maintain the company’s premises, furniture, equipment, and fittings and
ensure that they are kept to an agreed/appropriate standard and condition (internal &
external).
• To prevent insofar as it is possible, any damage to the structure, furniture, fittings and
equipment of the company (internal & external).
• Upkeep & renewal of paintwork.
• Report and repair (as appropriate) anything that could be a hazard to the health, safety
and welfare of our colleagues and the children in our services.
• Ensure that a safe and secure environment for children, colleagues and visitors is
maintained.
• Making the services safe in adverse weather conditions.
• Act as a keyholder and attend to alarm callouts (where applicable).
• Record meter readings (water, electric, gas).
• Update our EHS system as to status of jobs, risk assessments, etc.
• Understand and ensure consistent compliance with company’s health and safety
policies.
Other Duties
• General grounds maintenance (grass cutting, leaf-blowing, weeding, planting etc).
• Ensuring external signage is well maintained.
• Ensure bin enclosures are kept clean & tidy.
Role Requirements
• Proven experience/ability to undertake caretaking duties.
• Own mode of transport. (van is preferable)
• Full Clean Driver’s licence.
• Experience in grounds keeping (e.g., garden maintenance)
• Understanding/experience in general DIY.
• Experience and understanding of Health and Safety issues.
• Experience of taking responsibility for the security of a building.
• Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the team.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Flexible with the ability to deal with unexpected events and changing work activities.
• A willingness to undertake further training and development as required.
• Flexibility as regards working hours as at times may be required to attend in the
evenings / out of hours.
• A creative and solutions-focused approach when problem-solving.
