Role Overview: As our Activities Co-ordinator, you will play a vital role in designing and delivering a wide range of stimulating activities for our residents, tailored to their individual needs and preferences. Working closely with the care team, you'll ensure that all activities promote engagement, well-being, and a sense of community. You’ll also build meaningful relationships based on respect and equality, both with residents and with local groups, organisations, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, and lead a variety of activities in collaboration with the care team.
Develop engaging activity programmes that evolve over time, maintaining interest and participation.
Create connections with local community groups, voluntary bodies, and healthcare organisations to encourage involvement.
Set up rooms and equipment for activities, ensuring safety and adherence to the Manual Handling policy.
Customise activities to meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Record and monitor residents’ engagement, documenting progress and areas for improvement.
Foster an environment that promotes person-centred care and meaningful relationships.
Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and visitors.
Assist management with internal and external audits or inspections as needed.
Encourage a positive, inclusive, and joyful atmosphere for everyone involved.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a creative, flexible individual who is available to work 4 out of 7 days per week, including occasional weekends and evenings. Flexibility is key in this role, as our activity schedules run throughout the week. Ideal candidates will also have:
A FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or a related field (or be willing to complete).
Experience or a keen interest in working with older people, particularly those with dementia or in palliative care.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Specialist skills in areas like music, arts and crafts, gardening, or cooking (advantageous).
A valid Irish driver's licence.
Current certifications in CPR, Infection Control, Manual & Resident Moving & Handling, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if needed).
